Meet your local guide at the meeting point before setting off on a longer afternoon trek through the remote side of Pu Luong.
01:30 PM: Into the Mountain Trails
A short transfer takes you to Dong Dieng Village, around 7 km from the centre of Pu Luong.
From here, begin a 3 km jungle trek, starting at around 600 metres above sea level and descending through forest trails and streams towards Kho Muong Valley at around 280 metres.
Along the way, pass remote homes and see how people live in these mountain settlements, including how they access water, electricity and stay connected with the outside world.
Kho Muong Valley & Bat Cave
Reach Kho Muong Village, a quiet settlement tucked deep beneath the limestone mountains.
Take time to walk through the village before following the trail into Bat Cave, one of the area's most impressive limestone caves. Its large chamber, high ceiling and natural rock formations give you a very different perspective on the mountains above.
The Climb Out
Leaving Kho Muong, the trail changes character.
The next section is the more demanding part of the afternoon, climbing out of the valley towards 800 metres before continuing along mountain trails to Bang Village.
The climb is part of what makes this route different. You leave the valley floor behind and gradually open back into wider mountain landscapes and rice terraces.
Village Life & Rice Terraces
In Bang Village, continue through rice fields and local paths, passing traditional houses and seeing everyday life in the countryside.
If the timing is right, there may be time to stop for tea with a local family. You may even be offered a small taste of homemade rice wine, a simple gesture of Thai hospitality.
05:00 PM: Back to the Road
Reach the main road and meet your transfer back to the starting point.
05:30 PM: End of Afternoon Long Trek. Say goodbye to your guide. End of services.
