TRANSFERS TO/ FROM PU LUONG
1. FROM HANOI
Pu Luong limousine bus
With rising travel demand, Pu Luong Nature Reserve is now easily accessible. Limousine bus departs daily at 7 AM from the Hanoi Opera House. If your hotel is in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, you can reach our office at #13 Hang Muoi by 6:30 AM for the first pickup point. Within the area, walking is more reasonable than taking a taxi to the Opera House. We expect to arrive in Pu Luong by 11:30 AM, with a break halfway through the journey.
Upon arrival in Pu Luong, the Pu Luong bus first drops off guests along the main road (QL15C), the main transport route through the area. This includes stops at Ebino Pu Luong, Pu Luong Retreat, and other hotels along the way to Bang Village, such as Pu Luong Casa, Pu Luong Bocbandi Retreat, Pu Luong Eco Garden, and Central Hills Pu Luong Resort as the final stop on this route.
Quán Mộc Pù Luông, located in Don Village on the main road, is one of the main drop-off points. After completing the main road drop-offs, the shuttle bus Pu Luong continues down to the lower part of Don Village (valley area), where guests are dropped off at accessible homestays.
The return shuttle bus from Pu Luong to Hanoi begins guest pick-ups at 13:00 from resorts along the main road (QL15C), then continues to other hotels in Don Village. It is expected to arrive in Hanoi around 6:00 PM. Drop-off is at the same locations as pick-up. Traffic delays may occur. Please allow extra time for onward plans.
The bus offers a high level of comfort with reclining leather seats, Wi-Fi, and a complimentary bottle of water. The shuttle bus to Pu Luong takes the fastest route via the Ho Chi Minh Road.
For guests staying in the lower part of Don village, along narrow, unpaved village paths, such as Pu Luong Boutique Garden, Puluong Aroma, and Pu Luong Ecostay, the bus will drop you at the nearest accessible point, followed by a short walk to your homestay.
Alternatively, you can get off at Quán Mộc Pù Luông on the main road and walk down to the lower part of Don Village. It is about a 1 km walk and can be quicker, as the bus only reaches this area after completing all drop-offs along the main road.

Private transfer to Pu Luong
This is the most convenient way to travel, allowing you to be picked up at where you want in Hanoi and at your chosen time. You also have the flexibility to decide on the route to Pu Luong. As mentioned in our Pu Luong Travel guide, you can arrive via Mai Chau, Son Ba Muoi, or take the same route as the shuttle bus through the Ho Chi Minh Road. The trip will last between 4 to 5 hours, depending on the chosen route and the number of stops you wish to make. Opting for a private car provides more freedom, with options for 4 or 7-seater cars, as well as 11 or 16-seater minibusses. Larger buses can also be privatized upon request if needed.

2. FROM MAI CHAU
Unfortunately, right now there is no tourist or public buses doing the route from Mai Chau to Pu Luong. As the distance is only 50km, a private transfer to Pu Luong from Mai Chau is the only option. Prices are not high and we can easily organize it for you. Trip will last only 1.5 hour passing through a nice mountain road with mountain views.

3. FROM NINH BINH
There are limited shuttle bus options from Ninh Binh to Pu Luong due to low guest demand. On days with insufficient bookings, trips may be canceled. Some travel agents offer shared rides, which can be cheaper but may involve lower-quality vehicles and longer travel times.
Budget option – longer travel time
You can take a bus from Ninh Binh to Mai Chau, then continue to Pu Luong after dropping off passengers there (around 1.5 hours longer). The journey from Ninh Binh to Mai Chau takes about 4 – 4.5 hours. In case of low passenger numbers, you may be transferred to another vehicle, including local buses or shared rides, which can further extend the travel time.
While this is a more budget-friendly option, it is less convenient and may not be suitable for travelers who get motion sickness.
Direct shuttle – shorter travel time
Direct buses from Ninh Binh to Pu Luong take around 3.5 hours, with hotel pick-up in Tam Coc and Trang An (2 largest tourist sites in Ninh Binh). Pick-up time is usually between 8:00 -8:30 AM, allowing for a relaxed morning with no rush.
Drop-off points follow the same route as buses from Hanoi. At the same price as the Hanoi–Pu Luong route, you still enjoy spacious and comfortable standard buses. See prices again
Private transfer – most comfortable
A private transfer is the most convenient option. You can choose your departure time, stops along the way, and exact pick-up and drop-off locations. The journey takes around 3 hours.

4. FROM SAIGON and OTHER CITIES
For most travelers, and mostly international tourist, they will fly to Hanoi, spend a night and then choose one of the options mentioned above to reach Pu Luong Nature Reserve. As mentioned above, we can arrange a private car to pick you up from Noi Bai international Hanoi airport. If your travel plan is to come directly to Pu Luong, we recommend the second option and land in Thanh Hoa airport. From there, we can arrange a taxi to wait for you and take you by private transfer to Pu Luong. The trip from Thanh Hoa will last around 3 hours and prices are reasonable. Depending on your starting point in Vietnam, passing through Thanh Hoa airport is our recommended option.

Hanoi – Pu Luong tour
Pu Luong Nature Reserve is still a hidden gem. The views are beautiful, but the attractions are spread out, often 10 – 20 km apart on mountain roads. If you go by yourself, it takes time to find the right spots. Many travelers miss the best places, especially on a short trip.
Most trips are only a 2 day Pu Luong tour. In reality, you spend the first morning and the last afternoon traveling from Hanoi. So your time to explore is quite limited.

Pu Luong Tours (Self-Arrival)
Many travelers choose to go to Pu Luong by themselves. In most cases, you arrive later in the day, so the first day is usually free and easy. That is why most guests stay 2 nights, to have enough time to explore.
From there, you can easily join our tours in Pu Luong. You can choose a full-day experience to see the highlights, or half-day tours if you prefer something lighter. Everything is flexible, depending on your time and energy.

After your stay, it is also very easy to continue your journey. You can book a shuttle bus from Pu Luong to Hanoi (arriving around 6:30 PM, depending on traffic), and from there connect to Sapa or Ha Giang. Or you can take a bus from Pu Luong to Ninh Binh, with drop-off at the train station. Perfect if you plan to travel further to Hue, Hoi An, or other famous destinations in Vietnam.
